Indian Spiced Yogurt drink with Lemon, Lemongrass, and Ginger

The weather is getting hotter and hotter day by day. I feel today is the hottest day(I feel like this every day though!). Because scorching sun and high temperature are common to Singapore.

Authorities here focus a lot on the well-being of our urban trees. Almost 30 percent of the Republic’s urban areas are covered by greenery. This puts Singapore ahead of Sydney, Australia, and Vancouver, Canada, which are tied for second place with 25.9 percent.

It’s quite natural for all of us to look for some refreshing drink throughout the year. I  believe in eating fresh and healthy and homemade most of the time.  That keeps me on my toes to look for various options to stay hydrated.20190214_122936


Here is a recipe of spiced Yogurt drink prepared in an Indian way. It is healthy and refreshing, definitely helps in beating the summer heat. Spiced yogurt drink can also be prepared with Indian buttermilk or curd, low-fat natural yogurt(or any natural yogurt or healthy yogurt or creamy yogurt). Here I have used plain natural yogurt (Greek-style) and spice it with fresh ginger and lemongrass. Fresh green Lemon and fresh sprigs of Cilantro (Coriander leaves) used would add flavor to the drink. As this drink will be diluted with water, it will not be thick like Lassi(which is another yummiest Indian yogurt drink). It is one of the best drinks for kids.20190214_113615

Ingredients Measurement
GreekStyle Yogurt 1 Cup
Ginger, finely minced 1 Tablespoon
Fresh lemongrass, finely minced 1 Tablespoon
Salt 1 Tea Spoon
Fresh organic Cilantro 3 Sprigs
Fresh organic Lemon juice 1 Table Spoon
Ground white Pepper powder 1 Tea Spoon
Water 2 Cups


  1. Combine all the ingredients other than Yogurt and water  in a blender and blend it until smooth
  2. Mix the yogurt and water and blend it again
  3. Garnish with Cilantro and serve chilled


1. You may use the mint leaves in place of Cilantro.

2. You may vary the quantity of water for the desired thickness (it also depends on the thickness of the yogurt you chose).

3. You may add black salt and Ice cubes.
