Sweetened Sesame & Dates drink

Plant-based milk is an integral part of the Vegan diet. Milk made from cashew, almond, sesame, soy, oats, rice, coconut is considered very healthy. However, some of these milk may not taste good if you are dairy addicted just like me!  I used to drink Sesame milk with jaggery (Ellu hani -ಎಳ್ಳು ಹಣಿ) during the hot months of summer.   Here is the recipe with a twist – Sesame milk/drink with Dates.  You will get rich plant-based calcium and other minerals.

Difficulty Level Easy
Prep time 10 minutes
Cooking Time 0 minutes
Refrigerator life  1 week
Reheating method
Ingredients Measurement
Soaked Sesame 1/2 Cup
Coconut milk/Cream 1/4 Cup
Jaggery 2 Tablespoon
Water 1.5 Cup
Soft Dates 3 or 4

Directions:

1.Soak the sesame seeds for about 2 hours

2. Remove the seeds from the Dates and chop them into pieces, add them to a blender/food processor blend/process until smooth

3. To the same jar add soaked sesame, jaggery, water, coconut milk, and blend all. If you want the drink to be watery, add more water to adjust the consistency

4. Serve chilled, you may garnish with pistachio, saffron strings or any nut of your choice

I hope you will try this Calcium-rich drink and share the feedback in the comment section below.
